The Speedwell Practice

Travel Appointments

Whether you are planning a relaxing or adventurous holiday in Europe or further a field, it is important to consider the risks involved and what measures you can take to protect yourself. The travel clinic is run by qualified nurses in travel health and they will be able to asses your health risks for your individual trip. Thinking of travelling at the last minute?Hoping to book a fantastic last second deal on the Internet?  PLEASE REMEMBER: A LAST MINUTE DEAL DOES NOT MEAN A LAST MINUTE APPOINTMENT!

Please print off and complete the Speedwell Travel Risk Assessment Form before you attend our Travel Clinic.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

Africa Asia (Central) Asia (East)
Australia & Pacific Caribbean Central America
North America
South America
Middle East

Europe & Russia

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. Some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work. Most travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service. For prices please view our Travel Brochure

Please note we do not offer a telephone travel advice service, if you are going on holiday and are unsure if you need any vaccinations you will need to book an appointment with one of our practice nurses.
